The whole temple is constructed of one huge solid piece of rock and is one of the best specimens of rock cut temples in India. You can see devotees flocking the temple premises during the aarti.

Gaumukh Temple

Introduction:
The Gaumukh Temples stand to the pride of the Hindus and is regarded by them as one of the most sacred places of worship. A visit to this place at least once in their life is aspired for by many Hindu devotees. After climbing up the 700 steps, you shall finally be able to reach the topmost part of the temple.
It is invariably a great feeling to be there at the top of the temple, where the stone carved cow’s head sends down a torrential flow of water to the tank. From here the name of the place Gaumukh has been derived. Gau means cow and Mukh means mouth. The beautiful tank is something worth seeing. It is considered to be a sacred spot of water reservoir where people come and pay homage to their adored lord.
History:
This temple is a sacred place where Rishi Vashishtha performed the sacred rites. The place where the great Yagna was performed by the rishi, to evoke the gods and goddess, so that they may shower their blessings over this earth, became immortal. People from near and far comes to show their reverence for the great spot where such an auspicious occasion had been held. The mighty serpent called Arbuda stands here. According to Indian Mythology, the serpent is the eternal guard offering protection against the natural calamities. It guards the Lord from all those calamities.
Description:
The Gaumukh Temple is located atop the hill and is one of the most visited Hindu Pilgrim spot. The temple has been cut from a huge rock in the sacred spot where rishi Vashistha performed the great rite and offered sacrifices to Lord Vishnu in order to obtain his blessings. Herein lies the importance of Gaumukh Temple. It is also one of the most important picnic spots in Rajasthan. The statue of Nandi stands in front of the temple and is of prior importance for the Shaivaites. This is because Nandi is the vahana of Lord Shiva. Near the statue of Nandi you can also find the statues of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.

Shri Raghunathji Temple

Introduction:
There are numerous temples in Mount Abu. Of them, Shri Raghunathji Temple, Mount Abu Rajasthan deserves special mention. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who incarnated as Raghunathji in this earth to save his followers from the various calamities of life. Raghunathji Temple is one of the most visited temples in Mount Abu; especially for the Vaishnavaites, it is one of the most sacred places in the earth.
History:
Shri Raghunathji Temple, Mount Abu, Rajasthan is located in close proximity to the Nakki Lake. The temple is dedicated to Lord Raghunathji who is the presiding deity over here. There is a nice legend related to the Nakki Lake. It is said that there resided a beautiful princess in this region. She had a step mother who proved fatal in her love affair with the King's son at Mount Abu.
She dies young and in her remembrance the temple was established beside the lake which was dedicated to Lord Raghunathji. According to another legend, it was Sri Ramanand who placed the statue of Raghunathji inside the temple, in the 14th Century AD. Sri Ramanand was reputed as a very great preacher.

The temples are well known for their beautiful sculptures. Built around 1513 A.D., these Jain Temples also offer admirable views of the area around. Of them, the Kantinath Jain Temple is in the best condition and boasts of a gold plated image.
The Achleshwar Mahadev Temple out here is also a must visit. It is best known for its Nandi that weighs four tones and is built of five metals namely gold, silver, copper, bronze and zinc. This temple was constructed in the 9th century prior to the construction of the fort. According to popular legend, it was built around the toe marks of Lord Shiva, an important God in the Hindu pantheon.
Many sculpted idols are to be sighted within the interiors of the temple. There is a natural Shivalinga as well. The striking part about the sculpted idols is that they are made of a crystal like stone which generally looks opaque. However amazingly as soon as a candle is placed behind them they start sparkling like a crystal.
In the nearby vicinity of the temple is the Mandakini Lake that is encircled by rocky hills as well as by walls. The walls are sculpted with the images of Rajput kings and buffaloes. All in all, the Achalgarh Fort in Rajasthan, India with its massive walls and its beautiful temples is well worth a visit.

Mount Abu Archaeological Museum boasts of more than a few archaeological excavations that dates back to 8th-12th century A.D. Visitors can also view brass works and Jain bronze carvings in this museum. The prominent collection of this archaeological museum is the delicately carved out statues of Nartakis (Dancer) or Devdasi. These statues were erected between 6th century AD and 12th century AD. These magnificent sculptures were procured from an ancient township named Chandravati, located 7 kms from Mount Abu. The image of Chakrabahu Shiva is also a big draw at Archaeological Museum, Mount Abu. In this image, Lord Shiva carries a 'trishul' (trident) in one hand while a 'khadag' dangles from his other hand. Seated on Nandi, the bull, Lord Shiva has dancing girls on each of his sides.
There are two sections in Mount Abu Archaeological Museum. The first section plays host to musical instruments, weapons, ladies ornaments such as 'barly', 'guthma toda', 'damani', 'karna', 'kanksi berla' and 'gaga wala thoomar'.Several other types of earrings and garments are also on display at this section.
The second section of Mount Abu Archaeological Museum hosts a series of miniature paintings. These paintings are based on a variety of themes like lain images from Sirohi, raga-raginis, a small canon named 'Topdi', medium sized shields etc. In this section, you will also find some beautiful carvings on local wood.
