Mount Abu is more than just a summer retreat set amidst the lush forested hills. It is a verdant oasis in the barren desert scape of Rajasthan at an altitude of 1219 mts. The most ancient palace in Mount Abu is the Kesar Bhavan Palace that dates back to 1868, erected by Maharaja Dalwat Singhji of Sirohi. The palace had been the destination of the royal luminaries, where they could lavish the verdant landscape and enjoy liquor, but then it was gradually changed into a resort that would accommodate the general travelers. The mountain receives an average rainfall of 150 inches annually, being on the leeward side of the mountain, this is the highest amount of precipitation that can be expected.
